Brooke Ovenden is the owner and operator of Frame Warehouse. Born into the industry, you might say she ‘lives and breathes picture frames’. But that’s still not the full picture.
Brooke draws on a wealth of intergenerational knowledge. But her commitment to Frame Warehouse runs deeper. She’s driven by a dedication to customer care and enjoys the creative element that is a part of daily operations. Most of all, running her own business affords her the scope to provide a personalised touch. It’s this aspect that she finds most rewarding:
“I do the work I do because… it’s personal. It’s a personal service and I love the customers that visit my shop. I love the way their stories about the piece they’re framing is always all tangled up together with stories of their life. I love the art, and designing something original that I get to see through from start to finish.”
Born in Berlin, Mandy moved to Australia as a young adult after meeting the love of her life on a beach in Thailand. After working as an area manager for a men’s clothing brand in Sydney and then in an art sales role for a reputable interior design brand, her husband was transferred to a post at Enoggera Barracks.
Just before the move, Mandy and Brooke were “BLIND MATCHED” in 2018 by a framing rep who knew them both and thought it would be a mutually good pairing. Brooke offered the job before meeting Mandy, and Mandy accepted it based on the blind match.
The rest is history.
Mandy has a flair for streamlining practical processes (so German), ensuring every aspect of the business runs smoothly. She is well-loved by all the staff for her straightforward leadership, which is clear, consistent, and kind. She manages the company with ease and has supported numerous phases of growth over the years.
Mandy is a great personal support to Brooke. Her friendship and loyalty is unwavering, and she has been a rock to Brooke in her professional and personal life. Her support has allowed Brooke the confidence to take risks and grow the business.
